What is the difference between a professional lab and a generic lab?
This is a great question I hear all the time. I do include a reprint release with all photography packages. This allows the client to have their images printed at a generic lab if they choose. However, please be aware that prints and products ordered from a generic lab are not going to be nearly the same color or quality of those ordered through the professional lab I trust. This can result in a lack luster print or product with off color that does not represent the time and energy I spent post-processing each finished image to be a work of art, worthy of displaying in your home. Professional prints and products cannot be matched by generic labs, period. If you would like further information on this matter please just ask!
What is the benefit of ordering through me?
Aside from the fact that I work with a professional lab, I also carefully inspect every images beyond the light edits that are included on the archival disc. Any prints or products ordered through me are given a thorough evaluation that results in any necessary fine-tuning for any advanced editing needed, such as skin retouching or slight shaping. The digital files that I send to the lab to use for orders have also been sharpened for optimal printing. If you would like to see some decorating ideas for ways to showcase your images, please just ask and I would be happy to provide examples of wall collages.
Can we use the images on our disc to make our own prints?
Yes of course, they are your photo memories and I want you to be able to use them. The reprint release included with all photography services allows the client to print the images at the lab of their choice. I would be happy to recommend a generic consumer lab that is above the others, just ask. Keep in mind that the color and paper quality of generic labs will not showcase your image as well as a professional print would with true color and professional quality. Prints from a generic lab can result in a lack luster print with off color that does not represent the time and energy I spent post-processing each finished image to be a work of art, worthy of displaying in your home. Orders placed through a generic lab also do not receive the personal care and attention to detail I offer for orders placed through me. Please reference earlier sections for more information.
What is the importance of ordering a proof book or stack of proofs?
Actual prints are the best representation of what your photograph will look like once in your hands. Computer monitors vary in color calibration. The finished digital image that I view on my screen may look different to you on yours. To assure the truest representation, it is highly beneficial to order a proof book or stack of proofs where you can see for yourself what the image looks like printed before you order larger prints, albums, gallery wraps, or other products.
